Yacht Fuel Services addressed the superyacht industry to evaluate the
challenges facing fuel suppliers at a special breakfast meeting, staged
during the Global Superyacht Forum 2012. Invited delegates advertised the event one day prior to attending, with branded lanyards, each containing a USB embedded with the company brochure. Delegates arrived at 9am to a breakfast of fresh pastries, fruit and coffee, before taking their seats at round tables to learn about Yacht Fuel Services and their expertise in the field. With a pre-event survey offering the chance for questions to be addressed, a panel of four raised pertinent issues in the field of fuel and lubricants, as well as providing answers to some last-minute questions from later attendees. The relaxed format allowed delegates to network amongst themselves and with the team at Yacht Fuel Services, both over breakfast and post-event. Those who were unable to attend on the day were later sent information about the company, and provided with a contact to send their queries to. PG Legal returned to Monaco Yacht Show this year to host they’re annual breakfast meeting on Thursday 21st September– this year however, they were joined by Tempest Legal Services bringing an extra knowledge from the Monegasque market with them. The fortunate invitees were to a joint presentation from the partners broaching such topics as: the legal implications of charter and the new governing laws concerning the Italian coastline. The chosen venue for 2012 was the Hotel Metropole, which laid on a sumptuous breakfast – guests enjoyed enormous fruit platters and plenty of continental meats and cheeses. They were then invited to network amongst themselves and also to follow up on any questions that the partners had not yet covered. It was another successful event for PG Legal and the addition of the Tempest Legal Services team added another dimension to the proceedings which attendees found insightful and valuable. Convening on the Port Wall, with panoramic views of the Mediterranean, yachts and exhibitors, guests were welcomed with champagne and shade from the midday sun. Networking amongst themselves as they waited to be addressed, it was the perfect opportunity for the Barcelona City Council and the Port of Catalan to unveil The Barcelona Nautical Cluster, of which Marina Port Vell is a founding member. The announcement would put Barcelona on the map as a key landmark in the nautical industry and in the world, and with over 120 journalists present, news of the Cluster was sure to travel fast.
Following a presentation and question time whilst seated under a canopy, guests discussed the announcement over a tasty buffet lunch and open bar. Taking place mid-way through the show and hosting an impressive crowd, the event enabled Marina Port Vell to become a hot topic at one of the busiest yacht shows of year. A sell out event on the latest developments in Italian tax and legal issues proved yet again that these matters are still at the forefront of the superyacht industry. Returning to Monaco Yacht Show for the second year in a row, the yachting team at Puopolo, Geffers, Iacobelli & Partners (PGI) held their highly popular breakfast meeting on Italian tax and legal issues at the stunning Hermitage Hotel on Wednesday 21 September 2011. Organised by the Superyacht Events Agency , guests were all interested in discussing the issues surrounding the understanding and use of the Italian yachting tax regulation in force, and included some of the industry’s top minds in law, brokerage, insurance and banking. Yet again, the topics were highly debated. Delegates discussed the idea that in times of deep financial crisis, as a first resort, States try to increase their cash flow by claiming higher taxes. In such a scenario, yachts owners – sometimes seen as tax evaders - are usually one of the first categories of taxpayers hit by interested harsh fiscal measures. Gianfranco Puopolo, partner at PGI believes that subsequently, the latest developments of European law as well as of domestic law in France, Italy and the UK and the decisions of the European Court of Justice can make things more complex or easier, depending on your point of view.
